He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 13, and surrendered to the Ministry ten years later (1983) at the age of  23.  Ron attended East Texas Baptist University, in Marshall, Texas and was graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor's Degree in Youth Ministry.

Ron has served in three churches during his years of Ministry.  He served as the Youth Minister at the First Baptist Church of Kountze, Texas in the Summer of 1983;  as Associate Pastor for Students at the Waller Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana from 1984 to 1996; and was called to serve as the Minister of Youth & Activities here at First Baptist Church in January of 1996.

Ron enjoys golf, baseball / softball, basketball, racquetball, snow skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Ron is married to the former Betsy Petrea. Betsy was also graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a B.A. in Secondary Education.  She is currently an English teacher at Chapel Hill High School. Ron and Betsy have three children: two sons, Taylor Quinton (Born January 11, 1991) and Tanner Teague (Born May 24, 1994), and a daughter, Tori Nicole(Born October 20, 1997).
