Begin Again

It is the season of beginning again.  The start of a new school year brings a flood of memories.  The beginning of a new school year always meant a trip to the school supply aisle at the local department store.  New notebooks, packages of paper, glue, ruler, protractor, compass, pencils etc. were purchased and carried to school.  With a clean sheet of paper and a freshly sharpened pencil, we started a new year.  Everyone began at the same place. No absences, no poor grades, no trouble with the teacher.  We all had the same opportunity to begin again.

In Christ, we are given the opportunity to begin again.  The power of his forgiveness and the wonder of his grace provide us an opportunity to start fresh.  Even with the reality of the consequences of our choices, we are given the opportunity to continue with him in the abundant life.  What holds us back?  More often than not, you are held back by that glob of tissue between your ears.  You get it into your mind that you can't.  You judge that some things are impossible.  You give up.

He doesn't.  He doesn't give up on us.  Maybe it's time for you to break out a new notebook and a freshly sharpened pencil.  In Christ, you can begin again.
